The Mummy, a comedy-horror loosely based on Bram Stoker's Jewel of the Seven Stars, receives its world premiere on the Belgrade's Main Stage on Friday 21 March and runs until Saturday 29 March.

Adapted by Jack Milner, this brand new production combines comedy, inventive staging, special effects, magic and sleight of hand to create a gloriously silly romp reminiscent of The Woman in Black and The 39 Steps via Hammer House of Horror and The Morecambe and Wise Show.

Inspired by the scores of cult movies, The Mummy tells a tale of adventure and intrigue that spans thousands of years. Promising both hilarity and shrieks of horror in equal measure, the search of mystical Queen Tera's Tomb throws together a handsome lawyer, a beautiful heiress and a 5,000-year old man seeking his long lost ancient love to deliver a relentlessly silly and humour-packed show.

The myriad featured characters are played by a cast of just seven, headed by some popular TV faces:

Jason Durr plays The Hero and is best known to millions for playing heartthrob, PC Mike Bradley in six series of ITV1's Heartbeat.

Susie Amy who plays The Heroine is celebrated for her role as the notorious and unforgettable Chardonnay Lane-Pascoe in the cult drama Footballer's Wives.

Denis Lill plays the role of The Egyptologist. He was Consultant Surgeon, Mr Rose in all eight series of the ITV1 drama The Royal and played Cassandra Trotter's father, Alan, in Only Fools and Horses.

The Mummy is directed by Joe Harmston, Associate Creative Director at the Belgrade and well known to Coventry audiences for his productions of The Father, The Prodigals and several Agatha Christie shows. He explains, "Anyone who enjoyed The 39 Steps or The Woman in Black, loves a ripping good yarn told with lashings of theatrical magic by an ensemble cast of versatile actors on an ingenious set, or who likes their comedy fast-moving and gag-packed, will love this. The Mummy offers a daft antidote to all your woes in a single evening of insane adventure and entertainment."
