Behind The Scenes: Ball Reveals West End Return After Cameo At Monty Python's SPAMALOT

Double Olivier Award winner Michael Ball joined the West End company of Spamalot Monday night to raise money for the Royal Theatrical Fund, taking the role of God for the week and joining the cast on stage for the final curtain call.

Speaking to BWW:UK exclusively backstage after the show he revealed plans to return to the West End stage. He explained, "Not really soon, but I've got something in development, fingers crossed it all comes together, I love being here and this has reinvigorated my joy of being part of a company."

Ball is about to go to Shanghai to take part a tribute to the music of Boubil and Schönberg alongside fellow LES MISERABLES star and Olivier Winner Lea Salonga.

!I haven't sung with Lea Salonga since the 10th Anniversary of LES MISERABLES," he said.

Ball will also be singing songs from MISS SAIGON, which returns to the West End in 2014.

"It's a brilliant show, and Cameron's very happy with the advanced sales,2 joked Ball.

Monty Python's SPAMALOT first opened in the West End in 2007, and a new touring production returned to the Harold Pinter Theatre last year before transferring to the Playhouse. Les Dennis is currently playing King Arthur alongside Bonnie Langford as the Lady of the Lake. Each week a new star takes on the role of God, originally played by the show's creator Eric Idle. Previous Gods have included Hugh Bonneville, Barbara Windsor, Brian May and Michael Palin.

SPAMALOT is now booking at The Playhouse Theatre until February 2014. Tickets cost from £20 to £75.
