Behar, Ruehl, Cattrall & More Signed To Bay Street's Artistic Associates Committee

What do Alan Alda, Joy Behar, Kate Burton, Zoe Caldwell, Mario Cantone, Kim Cattrall, Richard Kind and Mercedes Ruehl all have in common? Aside from being incredibly talented performers and some of the biggest names in show business today, they are just a few of the many talented artists who have recently signed on to Bay Street Theatre's newly formed Artistic Associates Committee. In addition to making themselves available for performances on the Bay Street stage, this talented group of artists are supporting Bay Street in other ways-including appearances at fundraising and cultivation events, and participating in the ongoing artistic life of Bay Street.

Still in development, the Artistic Associates Committee already consists of some of the leading actors, directors, playwrights, and composers working in the theatre today. The group is composed of people who have been involved with Bay Street's efforts at some time during the theater's 19 years, or who are committed to supporting arts in general on the East End. Artistic Directors Sybil Christopher and Murphy Davis were thrilled when many of the people they approached not only didn't hesitate saying ‘yes', but stated they were honored to be have been asked. Said Mr. Davis, "It felt great to have so many of our pals so willing to give of their time and talent. It's a challenge keeping a not for profit like Bay Street going and this kind of support means everything."

Joining the talented list above are actress/comedian Julie Halston, playwrights Terrence McNally, Joe Pintauro, and Lanford Wilson, actor Tony Roberts, and composer Stephen Flaherty.

To kick off the 2010 summer season, Artistic Associates Joy Behar and Mario Cantone will Rock the Dock for Bay Street as co-hosts of Bay Street's famous Benefit Gala and Richard Kind with serve as auctioneer. The gala will be held on July 17th on the Long Wharf pier in Sag Harbor. In addition to the guaranteed fun and laughs that Behar and Cantone will provide; the evening will also include new twists, such as a lounge seating area with Tapas, online bidding for celebrity and fantasy auction items including adventure trips and cruises on Charitybuzz.com, and music by DJ-to-the-stars Tom Finn just to name a few.
