Barn Players Announce 60th Anniversary Season: AVENUE Q, THE PRODUCERS & More

The Barn Players, 6219 Martway in Mission, Kansas, the oldest and largest community theatre in the Greater Kansas City area, announced their 60th Anniversary, 2015, six show season today.

The regular season premieres February 27th through March 15th with THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE - the award winning musical that tells the story of a high-spirited 1920's stage musical and young Millie Dillmont in search of a new life for herself. Rated PG.

AVENUE Q - April 17th through May 3rd - a hilarious, laugh-out-loud musical that tells the story of a college grad who moves into a shabby NYC apartment as he and his friends struggle to find jobs and a general purpose to life. Rated R

SIX DEGREES OF SEPARATION - May 31st through June 14th - a true story that follows a black con-man "Paul" who claims he knows the son of a wealthy NYC couple and that he is the son of actor Sidney Poitier - the plot thickens and the couple turns detective and finds he has pulled the scam elsewhere; meanwhile Paul's lies begin to catch up with him. Rated R

EQUUS - July 31st through August 15th - Dr. Martin Dysart is confronted with a boy, who has blinded six horses, but the boy has always adored all horses - the puzzle is a psychological mystery that leads to a dramatic confrontation. Rated R

THE ADDAMS FAMILY - September 18th through October 4th - based on the TV show, this is an original story where daughter Wednesday Addams falls in love with a young man from a respectable family and her father Gomez Addams must keep the secret from her mother Morticia - the situation concludes as the Addams host a wild dinner party for Wednesday's "normal" boy friend and his parents. Rated PG-13

THE PRODUCERS - November 6th through the 22nd - it's Mel Brooks classic comedy, the show that won twelve Tony Awards and tells the story of a down-on- his-luck producer and his account that come up with a scheme to bilk their backers out of millions of dollars and produce the biggest stage flop in theatre history - the problem is the show is a big hit - the core of this insanely funny adventure is the emotional journey of the two men. Rated R

Other 60th Season 2015 Barn Players productions will include a Barn Junior production January 16-25th, The Barney Awards on January 31st, a Barn Kids production June 16-18 and July 16-18, the Barn Benefit Concert (a celebration of 60-years of Barn musicals) June 26-28 and the 8th Annual 6x10 Original Ten-minute Play Festival December 11-13.
