Ballet San Jose Artistic Director José Manuel Carreño and Associate Artistic Director Raymond Rodriguez have announced that former Zurich Ballet Soloist Nathan Chaney will join Ballet San Jose as Principal Dancer effective January 13 as the Company prepares to open its 2014 repertory season-the first under the artistic leadership of Mr. Carreño-with a program of ballets by Ohad Naharin, George Balanchine and Jorma Elo February 14-16. About Nathan Chaney Nathan Chaney joins Ballet San Jose after four seasons as a member of Zurich Ballet. His repertoire includes classical, neo-classical, contemporary and modern pieces from international choreographers such as George Balanchine, Matz Ek, William Forsythe, Robert Hill, Marius Petipa, Heinz Spoerli and Christian Spuck. He has also performed in Cinderella, Nutcracker, Swan Lake, La Bayadère, Romeo and Juliet, Sleeping Beauty, Le Corsaire, Rite of Spring, Woyzeck, Leonce und Lena, ...und mied den Wind, Grid, Ein Sommernachstraum, Ware Heute Morgen und Gestern Jetzt, In Spillville, Dorn Roschen, Goldberg Variations and Cello Suites, among others.In 2010, Mr. Chaney received Gold Medals for both Classical Ballet and Contemporary Dance at the Cape Town International Ballet Competition in South Africa and was a finalist at the Jackson International Ballet Competition earlier that same year.Videos
