Baby Jane Dexter Announces New Show: More Rules Of The Road

Baby Jane Dexter's new show, More Rules of the Road,debuts at Metropolitan Room for six performances only beginning Friday, November 22 and running on Fridays, a Saturday and one Thursday through December 27

. All shows at 7:00. Sharing the stage will be guest Musical Director Ian Herman. The Metropolitan Room is located at 34 West 22nd Street (between 5th& 6thAvenues.) The Rules of the Roadis the latest emotionally empowering and highly-charged show from this influential and beloved cabaret artist who never disappoints. Writing in The New York Times, Stephen Holden said of Ms. Dexter, " The phrase "keeping it real," and all that it suggests certainly applies to Baby Jane Dexter, a longtime cabaret performer whose booming pop contralto is one of the more formidable voices on the New York nightclub stage."

Her shows are filled with memorable anecdotes from life and a brilliant performing career as well as totally unforgettable song choices that have helped make her the local legend she remains today. This new 2013 show will include compelling songs by Irving Berlin, Cy Coleman and Carolyn Leigh and George Gershwin, as well as something by Mike Scott from the Waterboys and a song written by Randy Newman and introduced by Baby Jane. She also does a new blues written by Vivien Wolsk suggested by KT Sullivan, and songs by greats like Peggy Lee and Sonny Burke, Rufus Wainwright and Abbey Lincoln.

As always in her shows, there will be her trademark unexpected twists and turns that laugh at life as well as leaving her audiences emotionally moved. A veteran of legendary War Horses like Reno Sweeney, The Ballroom, Eighty Eight's, Blues Alley, The Kennedy Center and Weill Recital Hall, Ms. Dexter has performed at an endless array of major venues throughout the country over the years. As always, Baby Jane challenges as much as she inspires. That is the hallmark that has sustained her extraordinary night club career. This will be her only New York Appearance in a show not to be missed.
