I went to see Sunny’s play at the Leicester Square Theatre, London a week last Thursday, I must admit I went with trepidation......having been so disappointed in the past when actresses have attempted to capture Marilyn. I have gone into the theatre or watched films with great expectations only to be bitterly disappointed and come out feeling thoroughly let down. Not on that Thursday! From the moment the curtains were pulled back and I saw and heard Sunny I was captivated! She does our girl proud! She looks absolutely stunning...so like Marilyn you would swear you were in the same room with her! She is the 1962 Marilyn as this is the time zone when the play was taking place. And boy does she look like the 1962 Marilyn! What a performance! Sunny is on stage throughout the play on her own.....some interjections from cleverly recorded and replayed soundtracks and backdrop pictures. You might think this would be boring....not so!.....not for one second did my mind wander.....I was mesmerised! TBC

It doesn’t get much better than this--celebrating my wife’s birthday on an evening with Kevin Kline, Meryl Streep, Shakespeare and Cole Porter. Kevin Kline starts with a Cole Porter tune from Kiss Me Kate: “Brush up your Shakespeare (which my wife and I did for two weeks) Start quoting him now Brush up your Shakespeare and the women you will wow” It set the mood for a light hearted romp over heady Shakespeare. After the performance we had cocktails and dinner with the two stars (and a hundred or so other folk)—delightful! Kline came to our table at the behest of another proud husband to wish his wife a happy birthday. Then two charming young ladies at our table asked Kline to introduce them to Meryl; which he graciously did. A “Delovely” evening.

Continued..... Sunny Thompson is absolutely magical in capturing Marilyn and deserves all the accolades she has won and will win for this part. She portrays Marilyn as the very warm, funny, fun loving and at times unhappy woman that she was ......we all know Marilyn was no angel and that is partly why we love her so much...warts and all.....she was real! And Sunny brings to the stage a jaw dropping convincing portrayal of the woman we so admire and love. Sunny received a standing ovation at the end of the show which was thoroughly deserved. For a Marilyn fan this performance of Marilyn Forever Blonde is an absolute must....not to be missed at any cost! Since then I have been to see the show another 3 times, making 4 in all. Going again next Thursday and then for the last night! I can't keep away....it is like spending time with Marilyn! You can see Sunny in Marilyn Forever Blonde at the Leicester Square Theatre, 6 Leicester Place, London, WC2H 7BX until 18th November 2009. Book now…Box Office 0844 847 2475

PHANTOM Sequel LOVE NEVER DIES to Premiere March 2010 in London, November 2010 in New York
Posted: 11/8/2009
I love the Phantom of the Opera, but sequels never pay off. Lloyd Webber should leave the story at the cliff hanger. To do a sequel is too big a risk. I do not think the story line fits in with the Phantom's character. I think developing the characters dilutes the mystery of the whole concept and the mystery is the glue which bound the story together. I do hope it is successful, though.

Photo Flash: Brian Conley Is 'Edna' In West End's HAIRSPRAY
Posted: 11/8/2009
We took my 7 year old daughter to see Hairspray with Brian Conley and he was fantastic. The duet that he did as Edna with Wilbur had my husband crying with laughter. Absolutely wonderful show. We waited to see him at the stage door and he was fantastic, posing for everyone and waited until every person had left. Can't wait to see him again in his next run.

Continued.... The play relates Marilyn’s life story through to her death with all its ups and downs and is totally in Marilyn’s own words taken from various quotes, documentaries and books, cleverly interspersed with some of Marilyn’s songs. It is extremely well written and executed. Sunny captures Marilyn’s unique personality, her wit, her softness, her vulnerability, her intelligence, her beauty, her mannerisms, her voice, her sexiness. And she sings like an angel…what a beautiful voice! Marilyn could be very funny and Sunny brought this across in the play...there was a lot of laughter! It was also very moving especially towards the end...the girl next to me was in tears at the end and said to me...it is so sad! I think what Sunny portrayed and brought home to me was the fact that Marilyn, despite being the most beautiful and sought after woman in the world never found true lasting happiness in love. As the lady next to me said....so sad! TBC...

PEEPSHOW Offers Patrons A Chance To Meet Holly Madison With VIP Ticket Upgrade 2009/06/30
Posted: 11/8/2009
I saw Holly Madison in Peepshow last week. What a disappointment she was. The show was excellent but Holly Madison has no talent and no sex appeal. It takes more then fake breast to arouse me and Holly Madison just doesn't have it. I don’t see why they extended her contract. I bet Heffner has his hand in that. Holly Madison is nothing more than a blow up doll that doesn't know how to move well.

From Down Under to NYC and the West End: Andrew Bovell Readies For Major Productions

I saw When the Rain Stops Falling in Sydney and can't recommend it enough. Richly layered and structurally complex without getting in the way of the story. I sat in the front row and it took a great deal of effort not to bawl out loud.

DCT Opens the 2009/2010 Season With THE TAFFETAS: A Musical Journey Through The Fabulous 50's 10/30
Posted: 11/8/2009
I thought the show was absolutely terrific. Being of the 50"s era, many fine memories were refurbished. I really wish that this show would run on TV to bump "not so good" themes currently listed. If a dvd were made of this show, Please let me know, I would certainly purchase one. The voices, choreography and production, etal, was excellant. If there is a sequel to this show, please advise.. Ron

Just a quick correction for you. In the 2007-2008 season, Myra Platt did, in fact, direct Persuasion but Jen Taylor and Colin Byrne adapted it.

STAGE TUBE: HAIR Visits CBS's The Early Show 2009/11/06
Posted: 11/8/2009
"Hair" is the only show that I’ve ever seen that felt like an experience. The cast aka The Tribe is excellent, the production is fantastic and the songs sound better then ever. The shows themes (Sex, War, Drugs, Race) are as relevant today as they were forty years ago. The best part is the bond that the Tribe forms with the audience. It resonates with everyone long after they’ve left the theater. I urge all theatergoers to order tickets, participate in the show and dance in the finale. You will never forget the "Hair" experience.
