Playbill celebrated its 125th Anniversary last month with a special celebration at the Bon Appétit Supper Club with special performances by Bernadette Peters and Allie Trimm (Kim MacAfee in Bye Bye Birdie) and many other notables in attendance to celebrate the mag's big birthday.

In honor of that impressive milestone BWW TV caught up with Playbill Magazine's new Editor Blake Ross to take a look behind the scenes at America's favorite theatre magazine!

Playbill Fun Facts:

  • Circulation is 3.9 million a month, Playbill is in about 100 theatres in 24 cities across the country.
  • Playbill is a family business-it was founded by Frank Strauss and remained in his family for over 70 years. Bought by Arthur Birsh in 1974 it has remained in the Birsh family ever since.
  • Playbill.com was founded in 1994 they celebrate their 15th anniversary this year!
Before joining the team at Playbill, Blake Ross studied broadcast journalism and theatre at George Washington University in Washington, DC. Ross was most recently a much in demand publicist working with fabled PR vets Ken Sunshine and Shawn Sachs. Some of the professionals Blake was fortunate to work with were Barbra Streisand, Betty Buckley, Brian Stokes Mitchell and Lin-Manuel Miranda.
