The BroadwayWorld Student Center is a comprehensive Student Database listing college and university performing arts programs across the country making it easier for prospective students by showcasing programs searchable by schools, location, degrees and concentrations.

The Student Center also offers a show calendar of college and high-school productions where schools can upload photos, videos, cast lists, articles and other media content for each of their shows. BWW will be combing through all content regularly and will launch weekly feature stories highlighting productions locally and nationally that have provided us with this extra content.

This week, BroadwayWorld's featured arts program is the Department of Theatre at the Metropolitan State University of Denver, Colorado!
MSU Denver's Theatre Department continues to develop and to offer opportunities for majors by offering a BA in Theatre with a BFA concentration in Music Theatre and a BFA concentration in Applied Theatre Technology and Design. These curricula provide theoretical foundations and practical applications to prepare students for graduate school, employment, and personal and aesthetic development, all grounded in a strong liberal arts tradition.

The MSU Denver Theatre Department also serves the college, campus, and greater community by providing courses, performance opportunities, applied technology opportunities, academic and professional collaborations, and cultural enrichment.

The Theatre Department achieves this mission through the faculty's dedication to excellence in instruction, both classroom and technologically mediated; implementation of the creative process; professional renewal; and participation in a variety of initiatives with public schools, businesses, health care agencies, non-profit organizations, and the National Association of Schools of Theatre accrediting agency.

Students can find many performance opportunities at MSU Denver. Several theatre classes, such as Directing, Performance of Literature II: Group, and Stage Movement offer students the opportunity to showcase their work. Four major productions are also produced each year, including musicals produced in collaboration with the MSU Denver Music Department. The Metro Theatre Association, a student run organization, provides a forum for students to work closely with production development.

The Department of Theatre produces outstanding musicals and dramas, develops and tours original works, and cultivates strong community partnerships (such as that with Kaiser Permanente's educational theatre touring company) as it moves forward with its goal of preeminence. The fine work of MSU Denver theatre students, faculty and staff has earned local and regional awards and recognition. These achievements are a result of the department's fundamental commitment to excellence and basic philosophy that theatre is an inclusive experience that helps students develop skills that can support them as they work in a multitude of professions; thus, MSU Denver Theatre is "equipment for living."

MSU Denver will next present KISS ME, KATE running February 28 thru March 10, and THE HEIDI CHRONICLES playing April 11-13.
