I'm normally not a fan of an one person shows because what I love about theater is the interaction between multiple actors and the emotions that can come from that. However, I Love, I Lost, I Made Spaghetti has made me rethink my previous thought. This was an engaging, fun and interesting one person production.

Antoinette LaVecchia was personable and charming as Giulia. Also, she was performing as Giulia Melucci in front of the actual Giulia Melucci; talk about pressure. You'd think a two act, one-woman show would get boring or drag on but in fact, I wish the show had gone on a little longer. Every new relationship story allowed LaVecchia to showcase a different side of her character's fun history and personality. Plus this show allows for her to break the fourth wall and actually speak to the audience like we were in her kitchen, which I think added a refreshing and light energy to the room

The two things that impressed me the most were at the beginning of the show: an audience member's cell phone rang and LaVecchia made it part of the show seamlessly and had the whole audience almost rolling on the floor laughing. The second thing was she actually made spaghetti from scratch during the show (in a fully functioning, beautiful kitchen)! If you are lucky enough to get one of the seats where you get to eat the pasta, then I'm completely jealous of you because it smelled fantastic.

Run, don't walk to this show (also, don't go hungry)! This is not a show to be missed. Now excuse me while I run to go buy the book this play is based off of.

I Loved, I Lost, I Made Spaghetti is directed by Rob Ruggiero and runs through November 2 at the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park.
