The world-famous Blue Man Group opened their Sydney season on Wednesday 14th August in front of an excited and energized crowd who surely all walked away entertained and singing the group's praises.

The Blue Man Group was founded in 1987 and has thrilled audiences around the world for decades with their experimental music, hilarious comedy and amazing tricks and visual effects. This year, it is our turn here in Sydney to experience the magic of this very talented group.
From the very moment that the lights dimmed and the signs began engaging the audience in mass displays of love for random audience members and an Olympics bronze medallist, it was very clear that we were going to be in for a fun ride. The level of interactivity in this show beats anything I have seen previously. We were all on edge, not knowing if we could be suddenly dragged up on stage or put on camera on the big screen. Those that were taken on stage for either an interesting meal or to be a human paintbrush should be commended for being great sports and for playing along with the gags fantastically. I almost wish I was chosen to go up but was pretty glad to be sitting in my seat watching instead.

Sitting just one row behind the poncho-clad 'splash zone', I was blown away by the group's amazing talents; particularly their ability to both catch and then fit a ridiculous amount of marshmallows in their mouth at once and the impressive range of sound they could create using just PVC pipes.
From their interactions with their GIpads (giant Ipads) and their impressive drumming displays to the final hilarious dance party complete with demonstrations of 'Rock Concert Movements', the entire show was an impressive multimodal creation of a truly unique live show.

One last thing; as a regular theatre attendee, nothing annoys me more than late-comers and I can only imagine how distracting it is for the performers. Without giving things away, let's just say I wouldn't be late to a Blue Man Group performance if I were you!

Blue Man Group is a must see!
