Favourite Sins is a four-track EP of songs with music by Brighton actor/singer/songwriter Alex James Ellison and lyricists Ronert Gould (from Wales) and Jimmy Granstrom (a native of Sweden who now lives and works in Portland, Oregon) - arranged, recorded and mixed by Joe Davison at Auburn Jam Music studio.

Featured on the EP are Alex James Ellison, Kane Oliver Parry, Cameron Sharp, Jodie Steele and Emily Tierney. The vocals are excellent - as you would expect with this line-up.

The standout track for me by far is "Vanity Is Your Favourite Sin", which is undeniably catchy and wouldn't be out of place in The Last Five Years. Tracks "Just Let Me Love You" and "Sun" are also very good. The only song that lets this EP down is the final track, "Girls", which is about a man who keeps falling in love with lesbians. The lyrics are repetitive and start to grate very quickly.

These tracks obviously belong in a musical and it's a little tricky to get a proper feel for them out of context. I do love new writing and these songs definitely stick in your head, so I'm excited to see what happens next with them.

The EP will be released digitally on iTunes today and there will be a limited edition physical hard copy CD available.
