Review: CLUE THE MUSICAL at Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre

Whodunnit? That's what Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre wants YOU to discover in their production of CLUE THE MUSICAL, playing now through June 24, 2017. Broadway Palm brilliantly transforms a well-known board game, CLUE, into an entertaining, humorous, and interactive musical that is not to be missed.

CLUE has always been one of my favorite board games, and this show definitely lived up to everything I hoped it would be (and more)!

Broadway Palm's CLUE THE MUSICAL is a fun, family-friendly, wonderful new production. Near the beginning of each show, three audience members are invited onstage to choose a suspect card, a room card, and a weapon card. The entire audience receives forms to keep track of clues given throughout the performance, so they can play along. I thought this was a very special, cool touch-- especially for someone, like myself, who loves the board game CLUE.

One of the best part's of Broadway Palm's CLUE THE MUSICAL is the attention to detail that is put into this fun production. From lighting that is colored according to the CLUE characters onstage, to pop-culture references to the Kardashians and Katy Perry, Broadway Palm does a spectacular job at making this show entertaining and relatable to viewers. The characters also reference several board games, including The Game of Life, Monopoly, Sorry, and CLUE itself, resulting in a lot of laughter from the audience.

The cast members of CLUE THE MUSICAL were each extraordinary in their respective roles. Humor, wit, and musical talent were abundant in each of their performances. Theresa Walker, who played Mrs. White, was most definitely a standout in the show. Her character had some of the best lines of dialogue and the most entertaining actions, and she played these up in the most brilliant and hilarious way. Mrs. Peacock, played by Jennifer Hope, wowed the audience with her voice.

Mr. Boddy, played by Christopher Violett, carries the show, often making jokes about his death in the game. He presents each clue to the audience in a very entertaining, witty manner. His interactions with the audience throughout the evening made us feel very involved in the mystery, which I very much appreciated.

Broadway Palm's production of CLUE THE MUSICAL is one of the most unique shows I have ever experienced because of the audience interaction. The performance is incredibly seamless, despite the fact that the performers themselves don't even know the "results" of the game before they are chosen live on stage. It was very fun attempting to solve the mystery of the game--which, I am happy to report, I did--before it was revealed. No spoilers here, but there is also a bit of a fun twist, too. Great job, Broadway Palm!
