For the first time ever, CATCO is Kids is joining forces with the Columbus School for Girls to present Anne of Green Gables, a musical that celebrates the importance of imagination.

Based on the classic children's novel by L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables tells the story of Anne Shirley, an orphan who is accidentally sent to live with siblings Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert on their farm. Initially, the Cuthberts are uncertain as to what to do with Anne because they had originally planned to adopt a boy who could assist Matthew with his farming. But, luckily, it doesn't take them long to embrace Anne's exuberance and welcome her into the family.

The musical features a cast of both adults and children, who will perform music by Nancy Ford. The book and lyrics were written by Gretchen Cryer.

In addition to a large cast of student actors, the majority of whom attend CSG, CATCO's three acting apprentices for the 2016-17 season, Matthew Sierra, Ben Tracy and Abigail Worden, will appear in the production. CSG student Casey Sussman will perform the role of Anne Shirley.

CATCO is Kids associate producing director Joe Bishara will co-direct the musical with Elizabeth Bishara, an actor, director and choreographer who also teaches at CSG. Other members of the creative team include stage manager Alyssa Canowitz and music director Quinton Jones.

Anne of Green Gables will be performed at the Agnes Jeffrey Shedd Theater, located on the Columbus School for Girls campus in Bexley.
