STEVE ROSS IN "COME ON AND HEAR," AN IRVING BERLIN CELEBRATION

If Irving Berlin isn't part of your Fourth of July celebration, it's very possible you're doing Fourth of July wrong. The composer's vast oeuvre---from vaudeville to Broadway to Hollywood and everywhere in between---is as American as apple pie, and Steve Ross, the "Crown Prince of Cabaret," knows that more than anybody. What better way to kick off the upcoming holiday and the start of summer than with someone who has set the bar so high and so embodies Americana? LYRICS & LYRICISTS FAVORITES: YOUR CHOICE!

There are many good reasons to visit the historic 92Y. This week, check out a unique event led by LYRICS & LYRICISTS guest co-artistic directors Ted Chapin and Ted Sperling, where, for the first time, the audience has picked the song selection, featuring performances from some of Broadway's biggest stars, such as Victoria Clark, Betsy Wolfe, and Billy Porter. "Over the Rainbow," "Someone to Watch Over Me," "I Got Rhythm," "Oklahoma," and "Some Enchanted Evening" is a small selection of the two dozen songs slated for this daring two-act performance. SOPHIE B. HAWKINS

Five albums and two-and-a-half decades in, Sophie B. Hawkins really doesn't need to remind people she's still here. But the Grammy-nominated songwriter, who broke into recognition with 1992's anthemic "Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover" will make her Café Carlyle debut and shout that affirmation from the rooftops, helped by both a rich backlog and a string of ready-to-debut work, all as hungry-sounding as ever. KT SULLIVAN: COLORED LIGHTS

They say you can't go home, but they also say home is where the heart is. So who is to say anything at all about home, except maybe KT Sullivan, who is reprising her hit 2007 show COLORED LIGHTS, her story about how leaving Boggy Depot, Oklahoma, and ending up on Broadway. Many, many New York transplants carry a similar story---the tale of trading in some rural middle-of-nowhere for the bright lights of the city---but the illustrious Sullivan is a thrilling and warm host who makes you feel at home. MARY FOSTER CONKLIN: I DON'T WANT THE NIGHT TO END - THE SONGS OF PHOEBE SNOW

If you are looking for a bluesy femme fatale musical tribute, Mary Foster Conklin's I DON'T WANT THE NIGHT TO END - THE SONGS OF PHOEBE SNOW is a must see this week. Phoebe Snow was an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist, best known for her 1975 song "Poetry Man," and described by The New York Times as a "contralto grounded in a bluesy growl and capable of sweeping over four octaves." Joined by Tony Romano on guitar and Ed Howard on bass, Conklin's warm, rich vocal talent will flawlessly conjure the memory and talent of Snow.
