BWW Interviews: The Women of GOD OF CARNAGE

The show tells the story of two couples who come together to discuss an unfortunate incident that occured between their children - and end up behaving like children themselves.
BWW sat down to talk with the two dueling women of the production - Sarah Orenstein and Linda Kash - about some of the bad behaviour that can get us in trouble, why adults behave like children and why people should come and see this version of the show:
What would you say is the biggest point of contention for most couples?SO: I would say the biggest contention between couples comes into the small annoying duties .I've been married for 25 years - it's the dog walking and 'who gets to sleep in or deal with kids' that can build up. And lets face it ,we never SAY it,but it lurks with the shoes and coats that never get put back in the closet.
LK: Wallpapering and choosing tile. These are two things couples should never share in.
Can you tell us one time you let your inner child get the best of you and overrule your adult judgement? Did Carnage ensue?
SO: Well - I don't know about inner child... But once I was on a tour and went to a birthday supper with the cast at a Keg. They had mentioned to the staff that it was my birthday - so in true east coast fashion - the staff tied me to a chair , tossed me in the air singing 'What shall we do with a drunken sailor'. I have need been so livid in my life - gave those poor underpaid wait staff absolute hellfire for several minutes after they put me down....They looked terrified! And then I realized the whole room was watching in stunned silence....
LK: Does throwing a fax machine count? Remember those?
In your opinion, what is the most useful tool for calming anger and conversely, what do you think most often incites anger in others?
SO: Most useful tool in calming anger? A good walk outside! Always works ! You walk- you find perspective.
LK: A walk around the block before speaking is the most useful tool. A tub of Jamoca Almond Fugde is not the same as saying I'm sorry.
You get to do a lot of (at times humorous) shouting, yelling and arguing in God of Carnage. Be honest - is there a part of you that enjoys the chance to get down and dirty?
SO: I love playing those loud,opinionated people who don't hold back. Or feeling what it's like to totally lose your cool. It's just not how I am day to day ( I tend to avoid conflict). Maybe I shouldn't love it so much. My son asked me many years ago why I always played awful people!
LK: Put it this way, I've become very serene at home
Finally, what would you say is the number one reason people should come and see your version of this show?
SO: Because you will enjoy yourself!!! It's funny and thoughtful. As a cast , we are having a great time - so you will too. Besides you get to see Tony Nappo loose it ! Always fun.
LK: Because we fuckin' nail it!
