The new Broadway revival of The Heiress will play its final performance, having recouped its $3 million capitalization, tonight, February 9, at Broadway's Walter Kerr Theatre. The Heiress will have played 27 previews and 117 regular performances. BroadwayWorld takes you back through The Heiress' opening on Broadway below!

THE HEIRESS stars Academy Award nominee Jessica Chastain as Catherine Sloper, Academy Award nominee and Emmy Award winner David Strathairn as Dr. Austin Sloper, the leading man of "Downton Abbey" Dan Stevens as Morris Townsend and Tony Award winner Judith Ivey as Lavinia Penniman. Written by Ruth & Augustus Goetz, The Heiress is directed by Tony Award nominated playwright and director Moisés Kaufman. THE HEIRESS also features Molly Camp, Kieran Campion, Virginia Kull, Mairin Lee, Ben Livingston, Dee Nelson and Caitlin O'Connell.

The design team includes Tony Award winner Derek McLane (sets), Academy Award winner Albert Wolsky (costumes), Tony Award nominee David Lander (lighting), Tony Award nominee Leon Rothenberg (sound) and Peter Golub (original music).

THE HEIRESS is the story of Catherine Sloper (Chastain), the shy and sheltered daughter of a prominent New Yorker. Caught between the demands of an emotionally distant father (Strathairn) and the attentions of a passionate young suitor (Stevens), Catherine must navigate the terrain of love and regret, desire and duty, a chance for happiness and the burden of fortune...as only an heiress can.

Before beginning previews in October 2012, the cast of THE HEIRESS met the press in mid-September, and BroadwayWorld's Richard Ridge was there to chat with the whole creative team. Check out what they had to say about the production below, plus, watch the show's television spot!

Preview performances of THE HEIRESS began on October 6, and to ready audiences for the show's big opening at the Water Kerr Theatre, the team released performance highlights. watch!

In the midst of Hurricane Sandy, THE HEIRESS opened on November 1, 2012. BroadwayWorld was there to bring you all the excitement of the night. This revival of THE HEIRESS marked 17 years since the celebrated play was last seen on Broadway. The original production of The Heiress, suggested by the Henry James novel Washington Square, premiered on Broadway in 1947 at the Biltmore Theatre. The 1949 Academy Award winning movie version was adapted from the play by the Goetzes, and was directed by William Wyler, starring Olivia de Havilland, Montgomery Clift and Ralph Richardson.

THE HEIRESS was originally scheduled to close tomorrow, February 10, but the curtain was moved up to today to enable the play's star Jessica Chastain to attend the BAFTA Awards (the British equivalent to the Academy Awards), where she is nominated for Best Actress for her performance in the film Zero Dark Thirty. With Dan Stevens' "Downton Abbey" days drawing to an end and the actor in talks to join DreamWorks' Wikileaks film, the cast of THE HEIRESS will continue to turn heads long after the curtain closes THE HEIRESS on Broadway.
