Runaway Stage Productions is on the move! They have secured funding to begin construction on their new 250-seat theatre in West Sacramento. According to producing director Bob Baxter, the schematic drawings are complete and they are now in the process of obtaining approval from the city and finalizing various permits.

Although the initial fundraising goal has been met, RSP still needs help to light up the smiles of the hundreds of children depending on its success. Donations are still needed to purchase the new equipment that will enable RSP to continue their tradition of quality performances.

Baxter says that the mayor of West Sacramento, Christopher Cabaldon, has reached out to him to say that he is "looking forward to helping get this project over the finish line." As the only permanent family-oriented musical theatre venue in the city, it is a great draw for families and those who love the arts.

RSP is currently in its 20th year and performs 18 shows a year-six each of Broadway Stage, Storybook Children's Theatre, and their popular Youth Musical Theatre Workshops.

To introduce themselves to the community and showcase what they have to offer, Runaway Stage Productions is hosting an open house this Saturday, April 29, from noon-4 at their new location. There will be free hot dogs, ice cream, a bounce house, and character tours. The new facility is located at 1540 S. River Road in West Sacramento.
