BWW Contests: Win Tickets to Tarragon's MARRY ME A LITTLE

I am very pleased to announce a brand new BroadwayWorld Toronto contest! I'll be giving away two tickets to a performance of Tarragon Theatre's Marry Me a Little for the evening performance on March 25, 2014.

To enter the contest, please send an email to torontocontest@broadwayworld.com with your favorite Stephen Sondheim show and song. Entries missing the show and song will be discarded. All entires due by 11:59 PM on March 18, 2014.

One entry per person, duplicate entries will make the initial entry void and duplicates will be deleted. BroadwayWorld reserved the right to publicize the name of the winner, and may request a photo and a little about you to include in an accompanying article. Tickets cannot be returned/claimed for any cash value or sold/given in any manner to a third party. You will need to present photo ID to collect the tickets. When attending an event as a guest on BroadwayWorld's behalf, we expect you behave yourself appropriately. No one directly or indirectly affiliated with BroadwayWorld or Tarragon theatre may enter this contest. No purchase necessary.

How is the winner chosen?

Every entry is included into a database and given a sequential number. After all approved entires are put into the database, a random number generator will select a number between the first and last sequential number. All participants are equally likely to win.

This emotion-filled New York hit filled with Sondheim rarities takes audiences on a roller-coaster ride through love in all its guises as a Man and Woman each share their dreams and longings.

Originally conceived by director Norman René and playwright Craig Lucas (Prelude To A Kiss), this delightful "revusical" is told entirely through songs written early in Sondheim's career (including numbers from Saturday Night) or cut from his groundbreaking Broadway musicals (A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Anyone Can Whistle, Company, Follies and A Little Night Music). The production will also feature the Canadian premiere of the song Rainbows, written for the upcoming film Into The Woods. Sondheim fans (and soon-to-be Sondheim fans) will be treated to an evening of 'songs that got away.'

Stephen Sondheim is an American composer and lyricist known for his immense contributions to musical theatre for over 50 years. He wrote the music and lyrics for Saturday Night (1954), A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (1962), Anyone Can Whistle(1964), Company (1970), Follies (1971), A Little Night Music (1973), The Frogs (1974), Pacific Overtures (1976), Sweeney Todd (1979),Merrily We Roll Along (1981), Sunday in the Park with George (1984), Into the Woods (1987), Assassins (1991), Passion (1994) and Road Show (2008) as well as lyrics for West Side Story (1957), Gypsy (1959) and Do I Hear a Waltz? (1965) and additional lyrics for Candide(1973). Anthologies of his work include Side by Side by Sondheim (1976), Marry Me A Little (1981), You're Gonna Love Tomorrow (1983),Putting It Together (1993/99) and Sondheim on Sondheim (2010). He composed the scores of the films Stavisky (1974) and Reds (1981) and songs for Dick Tracy (1990) and the television production Evening Primrose (1966). His collected lyrics with attendant essays have been published in two volumes: Finishing the Hat (2010) and Look, I Made A Hat (2011). In 2010 the Broadway theater formerly known as Henry Miller's Theatre was renamed in his honour. He is the winner of an Academy Award, eight Tony Awards (more than any other composer) including the Special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre, eight Grammy Awards, a Pulitzer Prize and the Laurence Olivier Award.
