Over the past week, I have been in the process of recording, rehearsing and being coached for my pre screen audition videos for applying to college. I was also scrambling to meet deadlines I had set for myself to finish my college applications. I spent an hour and a half recording the vocal part of my auditions, two hours recording one mandatory dance combination, introductions to my video and my monologues. I also worked for an hour on the optional/technique jazz combination video.

This was only half the battle as I then had to edit them into a cohesive video. Five separate videos with different song and monologue combinations, my mom and I stayed up past midnight to get them all done before the week started.

When I finished editing the videos, I felt a relief of not having that stress on my plate anymore. When I finished my applications the next day, I was elated. I felt like I could focus on the other things in my life, and on the audition for the colleges that didn't require a prescreen video. Not only did I put a lot into these videos, but my parents did too, as they helped video, edit and helped me rehearse. I am so thankful to them for how much they have done for me and how much they helped during this process. They have made sure I am healthy and happy, and that I ended up with an amazing final project.

I am so lucky to have the people I have in my life, and I should thank them more often than I do.

When working on stressful things like college applications and pre screen videos, make sure you take time to thank those who help you, and take time to take care of yourself. You won't be able to do an amazing job if you are sick or distracted with other things. Care for yourself and others, and try to be happy and healthy!
