New York--BWAY-LIVE.COM, an online theater channel, announced today that it has launched Tony Award winner Lea Salonga's critically acclaimed New York show, Back to Before. Re-titled for the webcast LEA SALONGA: LIVE AT THE ALLEN ROOM, JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER, the cabaret-style show was filmed in high definition (HD) before a live audience.

Funded by venture capitalists from Silicon Valley, New York, and Los Angeles, BWAY-LIVE.COM is building a theater multichannel network to offer a selection of high quality diverse, original theater programming in its pay-per-content, subscription, and free/ad-supported series.

Salonga commented: "I'm thrilled that my concert is BWAY-LIVE.COM's first show. This platform is a cutting-edge way for theater artists to connect directly with audiences globally. For the first time, my concert is streamed so my fans all over the world can watch it without having to fly to New York."

She added: "For this Allen Room filming, we added more songs to the repertoire that were not in the original Café Carlyle ['Back to Before'] set. So those watching this BWAY-LIVE.COM version will get to see bonus content."

For Salonga's show, New York Times music critic Stephen Holden wrote: "Ms. Salonga is a performer whose formidable talent is matched by her unstoppable drive and keen intelligence. As far as Broadway divas go, she is a cut above most."

Written and directed by Victor Lirio, founder of BWAY-LIVE.COM, Ms. Salonga pays homage in the show to her favorite ladies, Ella Fitzgerald and Barbra Streisand, with original arrangements by music director Larry Yurman. In addition, she explores songs sung by resilient female characters from musicals written by Stephen Sondheim, Kander & Ebb, and Jason Robert Brown, among others, and performs contemporary classics such as the The Beatles's Blackbird, Whitney Houston's Greatest Love of All, and Alicia Keys's Empire State of Mind.

Lirio said, "We're developing a pipeline of concert series by premier Broadway artists and a programming schedule that includes original one-acts and full length plays, master class series, Google Hangout series, and an actor's lab/educational web series in the style of Slings & Arrows with Obie Award winner Deborah Hedwall. It's all very exciting."

He added: "I'm thrilled to launch the first theater multichannel network online and make theater content more accessible to audiences around the world. BWAY-LIVE.COM is not meant to replace the experience of live theater. I'm a theater purist and believe that going to the theater is a magical experience. BWAY-LIVE.COM is a new platform for theater lovers who don't have easy access to as much theater as they would like. We're leveraging technology to bring them a little bit of the theater magic. What's more, it's an innovative way for theater artists to earn incremental income."

Formed in February 2013, BWAY-LIVE.COM's mission is to create a global theater community online by producing concert series, educational programming, and other creative, engaging theater content. BWAY-LIVE.COM aspires to make such content available to theater enthusiasts across the globe bringing together the techniques of film and the intimacy and spontaneity of live theater to home computers, television screens. and mobile devices.
