BRIFT's Rhiannon Richards to Appear in LITTLE WOMEN and DATING, DODGING AND DITCHING, Beg. 2/1

The Burt Reynolds Institute for Film and Theatre (BRIFT) announced that 14 year old Rhiannon Richards, a student in Todd Vittum's Improv for Young Actors class will be appearing in the Treasure Coast High School production of Little Women as Beth, the youngest of Louisa May Alcott's heroines in the much loved book of the same name. Rhiannon is a ninth grader at Treasure Coast High and has been acting for two years. Performance dates are Friday, February 1st, and Saturday, February 2nd in the high school auditorium. Tickets are only $10.00 each.

Rhiannon will also be performing on Sunday, February 3rd, at StarStruck Performing Arts Studio, 2101 S. Kanner Highway, Palm City in an event sponsored by Soroptimist International of Stuart. This will be the Club's second event recognizing Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month. The performance is part of their Teen Relations Using Safe Tactics project (T.R.U.S.T.).

Entitled Dating, Dodging and Ditching, the 2:00 p.m. performance is free and will provide an opportunity for teens and parents to learn more about healthy teen dating. The keynote speaker is Dr. Maria Elena Villar, Ph.D., of Florida International University.

StarStruck students will perform a skit focusing on teen relationships and participants will hear a story from a domestic violence survivor, followed by a panel discussion with students, cast, and professionals. Soroptimist is an international volunteer organization working to improve the lives of women and girls in local communities and throughout the world.

Rhiannon had been home schooled prior to entering high school this year. She has maintained a 3.7 GPA, of which she is quite proud. She also performed live on stage in The Wedding Singer, Les Miserable, Legally Blonde and showcases at StarStruck. She recently was cast an extra in the feature film All That You Can't Leave Behind.

Improv for Young Actors is held on Saturday mornings at 10 a.m. at 304 Tequesta Drive, Tequesta, Florida 33469. The cost is $10.00. For information and registration, call 561 743-9955.
