BLOOMSDAY, MR. BURNS, A POST-ELECTRIC PLAY and More Set for ACT's 2015 Season

A Contemporary Theatre announces a wide range of dynamic shows to close out its 50th year.

ACT presents the romantic Bloomsday by Steven Dietz in September followed by the imaginative dark comedy Mr. Burns, a post-electric play by Anne Washburn. ACTLab teams up with Azeotrope to explore the intersections between the deaf and hearing communities with Don Nguyen's Sound in September followed by A Glimmer of Hope or Skin or Light, a dance/theatre/cabaret/glam-rock musical first created by KT Niehoff in 2010. 2015 marks the 40th anniversary of the holiday classic A Christmas Carol, directed by incoming Artistic Director John Langs.

Sound (ACTLab)

Azeotrope returns with their 4th production here at ACT. The critically acclaimed company stages the world premiere of Sound, an experimental new play that explores the impassioned dispute between a fiercely protective deaf father and his hearing ex-wife over the use of cochlear implants to restore their daughter's hearing.

This production is bilingual, performed in American Sign Language and spoken English. All shows will have super titles, and listening devices will be available.

WORLD PREMIERE

Set in Dublin against the backdrop of James Joyce's Ulysses, Bloomsday follows an American man in search of the Irish woman who captured his heart 30 years earlier. Weaving in and out of time, we witness the very separate paths their lives have taken.
