Nothing can hold back the revolution in Behind Closed Doors, the provocative new musical, presented by Traveling Muse Productions, premiering this summer during the New York International Fringe Festival, August 9th-24th.

The show plunges into a world ruled by a brutal, Orwellian regime where those who deviate from societal norms are hunted. These second-class citizens find sanctuary in a colorful, clandestine burlesque club where their expression is allowed to flourish and ultimately grows into the seeds of a revolution.

"Behind Closed Doors couldn't be timelier in its heartwrenching, and at times hilarious, exploration of this group of outcasts as they struggle to find their voice and place in a society that not only doesn't want them but will kill them if their private lifestyles are uncovered," Peter Berube, the show's director and writer said. "Even though this is very much a work of fiction, you don't have to look far to see elements of that happening in our world today."Born as a reaction to California's passage of Prop 8, the show's development began in earnest in late 2010. Since then, its strong LGTB themes have resonated with audiences, as Behind Closed Doors sold out its entire workshop run at the historic Hayworth Theater in Los Angeles Summer 2011; was invited to shoot with photographer Adam Bouska and the NOH8 campaign; completed a fully fan funded cast recording via Pledge Music; and dazzled crowds of thousands on the main stage of the famed West Hollywood Carnaval in 2013.

"We've had an incredible response from our home town audiences in Los Angeles and through our fan base online" Berube said. "We're thrilled for the opportunity to bring this show to a wider audience in New York City as part of FringeNYC this year."

Behind Closed Doors is written by Peter Berube (book) and Aaron Beaumont (music/lyrics). The world premiere presented during the New York International Fringe Festival features John E. Elliot, Amanda Wallace, Sam Heldt, Aly French and Luis Selgas; and is directed by Berube who was nominated by Broadway World LA award for his direction in the workshop run of the production.
