The Bushwick Starr is thrilled to open our 2016-17 Season with SHASTA GEAUX POP.

After a stint on Broadway as the standby for Lupida Nyong'o in Eclipsed, Ayesha Jordan, the multidisciplinary performing artist whose shows combine music, technology, and consensual audience interaction, brings her special brand of tongue-in-cheek frivolity to the Starr. Ayesha explores humanity through the lens of her pop singer alter-ego, Shasta Geaux Pop. Expect popular culture to be celebrated...and skewered.

From Ayesha: "Shasta Geaux Pop is beyond diva. So, what is Shasta to do when given the time, space, and audience to do whatever she wants to do? Shasta might discuss "the do", she might sing about "the do", or just show you how to "do". Or she'll just "do" whatever her heart damn well pleases. Shasta Geaux Pop is an "experience". She welcomes adoring fans, lovers, punks, copycats and anyone else looking for a raucous evening mixing theatrics, music, comedy, outrageous costumes, and pop culture commentary. Once you get a taste of her pop, she is the only flavor you'll ever want to savor."

Performed by Shastina Degeaux (Shasta Geaux Pop), Akhmose Ari aka The Compliment King (Shasta's Morphing Man), with a possible appearance by Shasta's close friend and occasional rival and manager, Ayesha Jordan. Lighting design by Tuce Yasak. Music & Sound by Justin Hicks.
