Author Christopher Chadwick has the ambition of encouraging young people to love reading in whatever language they choose. It is with that altruistic goal in mind that he made The Year of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, an enchanting illustrated children's book portraying how one wonderful event changes a family, namely a visitation by the Queen of England herself. They are asked to have tea with the Queen, and young readers will witness the humorous turmoil that ensues as the whole family prepares to deal with this once in a lifetime event.

This book is about an ordinary little girl called Lillibet, a reluctant reader who out of the blue gets invited to meet the Queen of England in her own home; it describes her adventure of making plans with her mum, paving the way at school with her classmates and all their questions, dealing with security, communicating to the Queen and her office. Lillibet tries to remain calm and help her mum to get ready for the big day but she wonders if it all works out as planned. She worries about the naughty cat next door and if it will upset the queen's dogs, and wonders where she should put the queen's horses.

Chadwick conveys an important message of optimism to his young readers, showing them that wonderful things can happen at any time. In this book, they will find out how Lillibet ends up meeting the Queen herself.

About the Author
Christopher Chadwick is passionate and enthusiastic about encouraging all children to read, to love reading in their own language and that of others. He has tried to create a book that is dedicated to young people, young readers, and to their parents and care givers, a book with an enchanting, fun story of everyday life turned upside down. It is a book which can stand alone on the book shelf and be read any time or, more importantly, be one that is taken down and read as a 'good book for a bed time story.'
