In this comic twist on a classic sleuthing caper Oscar Wilde's muse, actress Lillie Langtry presents Holmes with what seems like an open and shut case. But with his superior powers of deductive reasoning, Sherlock wastes no time in exposing a much more sinister conspiracy. In a fast-paced ride full of surprises and disguises, Holmes and Watson must do whatever it takes to help their friends...while facing their greatest foe.

Sherlock Holmes stars Austin Playhouse Acting Company members Jason Newman (The Foreigner, Lady Windermere's Fan) as Sherlock Holmes and J. Ben Wolfe (Roaring, The Liar) as Watson. Also featuring Acting Company members Andrea Osborn Ginder (Born Yesterday) as Lillie Langtry, Stephen Mercantel (The Foreigner, And Then There Were None) as Mr. Smythe, and Bernadette Nason (And Then There Were None, Noises Off) as Irma Tory, with Samuel Knowlton (The Liar) as Oscar Wilde and Aaron D. Alexander as Professor Moriarty.

The play is directed by Michael Stuart, with costume design by Buffy Manners, set design by Desiderio Roybal, lighting design by Don Day, and sound design by Joel Mercado-See.

This is the Austin premiere of Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Jersey Lily, which was first produced at People's Light & Theatre Company in Malverne, PA in 2008.

The 2014-2015 Season continues with the classic, 17th century comedy She Stoops to Conquer by Oliver Goldsmith running February 13 - March 15, 2015, I'm Not Rappaport by Herb Gardner running April 3 - May 3, 2015. The final show of the season will be the Tony Award-winning musical Chicago running May 22 - June 28, 2015. In addition to our five-play season, Austin Playhouse will produce the Austin premier of the recent Broadway hit The Mountaintop by Katori Hall, January 9 - 25, 2015.

Austin Playhouse is a professional theatre currently performing its 15th season. Under the leadership of Producing Artistic Director Don Toner and Artistic Director Lara Toner Haddock, Austin Playhouse has grown from a three-play season on the campus of Concordia University, to a year-round operation producing an average of eight plays a year. Austin Playhouse is currently performing at ACC's Highland Mall campus. The theatre is currently being renovated to include an expanded lobby, rehearsal hall, and restroom facilities.
