Atlantic Theater Company presents the New York premiere of THE JAMMER, written by Rolin Jones and directed by Jackson Gay. Performances begin tonight, January 9, 2013, at Atlantic Stage 2, 330 West 16th Street, between 8th and 9th Avenues.

Rolin Jones returns to Atlantic Theater Company following his critically acclaimed Obie Award winning and Pulitzer Prize finalist play The Intelligent Design of Jenny Chow. He has written for the hit television series "Weeds," "Friday Night Lights" and "Boardwalk Empire" and is writing the feature film adaptation of the Broadway musical American Idiot.

Jackson Gay reunites with Jones at Atlantic, where Gay staged The Intelligent Design of Jenny Chow as well as Lucy Thurber's hit play Scarcity. She recently directed Rachel Crothers play A Little Journey off-Broadway, which received the 2012 Drama Desk Nomination for Outstanding Revival of a Play.

STARRING: Patch Darragh (Broadway's Our Town; Roundabout's revival of The Glass Menagerie); Dan Domingues (Atlantic's The Cherry Orchard; "Royal Pains"); Christopher Jackson (Broadway's In The Heights; Lonely, I'm Not at Second Stage); Billy EuGene Jones (Broadway's The Mountaintop and Passing Strange); Keira Naughton (Hunting and Gathering at 59E59; the Broadway revival of The Rivals); Kate Rigg (BFE at Playwrights Horizons; Dogeaters at the Public); Jeanine Serralles (Paris Commune at B.A.M.; The Maids off-Broadway); Greg Stuhr (Atlantic's Offices; Broadway's The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee); and Atlantic Ensemble Member Todd Weeks (Atlantic's Bluebird and Scarcity).

In this wild theatrical adventure about New York in the late 1950's, The Jammer plunges into the hard-boiled, bizarre world of professional roller derby. Jack Lovington (Darragh), a lovelorn Brooklynite, needs to find himself and stake a claim in the world. When he joins up with the rough and tumble Brooklyn Brown Devils, little does Jack know that his life is about to be turned completely upside down and that he's about to find himself on a most unexpected roller coaster ride. Jones takes us back to the Bushwick of yesteryear and creates a romantic urban fable for our time.

Previews begin tonight, January 9, 2013, followed by an opening set for Tuesday, January 22, 2013. The limited engagement runs through Sunday, February 10, 2013. THE JAMMER plays Tuesday-Saturday at 7:30pm and Saturday & Sunday at 2:30pm. There is no performance on January 8 or January 22. Special added 7:30pm performance on January 13.
