Tonight, Thursday, March 1st, playwright Athol Fugard will appear on "The Charlie Rose Show." Tune in to watch the acclaimed playwright sit down with host Charlie Rose, to speak about his work being produced in New York this season.

"The Charlie Rose Show" airs locally on WNET (Channel 13) Thursday night at 11PM. Check local listings for airings outside the tri-state area.

Roundabout Theatre Company's The Road to Mecca is playing on Broadway at the American Airlines Theatre (227 W42nd St).

Signature Theatre Company's Athol Fugard, Residency One series began with Blood Knot, which is now playing. The series will continue with My Children! My Africa! which will begin previews on May 1, 2012 and will draw to a close with The Train Driver which will begin previews August 14, 2012.

The Road to Mecca opened officially on January 17, 2012 at the American Airlines Theatre on Broadway (227 West 42nd Street). This is limited engagement closes this Sunday, March 4th, 2012.

Set in the region of South Africa known as the Karoo, The Road to Mecca tells the story of an elderly woman who has spent the years since her husband's death transforming her home into an intricate and dazzling work of art. The reclusive Miss Helen (RoseMary Harris) has become depressed and appears increasingly unable to care for herself. Pastor Marius Byleveld, who embodies the village's conservative values, is determined to get Miss Helen into an old-age home. Her friend Elsa (Carla Gugino), a young teacher from Cape Town who is deeply suspicious of the patriarchal traditions Byleveld represents, is just as determined that Miss Helen remain free.
