Ashley Brown & Marla Mindelle Set for MUSI-CAL at Rockwell LA Table and Stage, 10/5

Broadway stars, Ashley Brown (Mary Poppins, Beauty & the Beast), who is currently starring as Mother Abbess in The Sound of Music at the Ahmanson Theater, and Marla Mindelle (Cinderella, Sister Act) will sing the songs of Lee, Long & Burns and sometimes Duncan in "Musi-Cal" at The Rockwell LA Table and Stage on Monday, October 5th at 8pm.

Following their New York City debut concert, The Opposite of Cool, Lee, Long & Burns and sometimes Duncan will make their Los Angeles musical theatre-writing debut in "Musi-Cal." The team will present songs from their new musical comedy, Welcome to Shoofly and in addition to Brown & Mindelle, they will be joined by Kelley Dorney (First Date at La Mirada), Erica Lustig (First Date at La Mirada), Benai Boyd (When Stars Align at The Odyssey), Jolie Adamson (Mirror, Mirror at Chromolume), Hayley Marshall and (Mirror, Mirror at Chromolume), Keith Harrison on the Keys, Jason Chacon on the Drums and Barrett Wilson on Guitar.

This one night only event plays the Rockwell Table & Stage (1714 N Vermont Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90027) on Monday, October 5th at 8pm. Doors open at 6:30pm. Lee, Long & Burns and sometimes Duncan are Jonathan Lee, Justin Anthony Long, Joanna Burns and Amanda Duncan. They began writing together back in 2012 when they penned original songs for the hit musical web-series City of Dreams (New York Times, USA Today, Playbill.com). Burns' solo album, The Green Year, is available on iTunes. Lee & Long wrote concept, book and lyrics for Cookie Soirée (2014 Audience Choice Award for Best Musical at Sound Bites) and the short film, Take Out (Top 10 Asian American Film Lab 72-Hour Shootout).

"Musi-Cal" is part of the LA Festival of New American Musical's ongoing priority to create community among Southern California's composers, lyricists and book writers. "Musi-Cal" evenings offer an opportunity for the writers to get to know one another and for the audience to get a first peak at new musical works in progress.

Songs from The Composition of Time by David Cornue and Sam Holtzapple, Emojiland: the musical by Keith Harrison & Laura Harrison, Joe Shmoe Saves the World by Brett Ryback, and songs from You're Invited: the musical by Chris Meissner and Katheryne Penny will also be presented at "Musi-Cal" on October 5th.
