Film star and jazz artist Molly Ringwald currently lights up TV screens in ABC's "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" - and is set to grace the Arcada Theatre stage Oct. 5 in St. Charles. The show begins at 8 PM and tickets are only $29.

With 80s fame for her roles in "Sixteen Candles," "The Breakfast Club," and "Pretty in Pink," Molly has evolved as an accomplished jazz musician and has enjoyed success on Broadway, directed her own works and embraced family life as well.
Ron Onesti, owner of the Arcada Theatre, said he is awed by the star's vocal power, magnetism and energy.

"Not only is Molly Ringwald a lifelong entertainer who over-delivers in everything she does, she's also a passionate, gifted jazz performer whose new album is getting rave reviews in all kinds of jazz circles!" Onesti said.

International projects include roles in Jean-Charles Tacchella's Tous Les Jours Dimanche and Toni Marshal's Enfants de Salaud, which she performed entirely in French. TV projects have included the critically acclaimed comedy series Townies, Stephen King's The Stand, and the Emmy-nominaTed Allison Gertz Story.

Ringwald's theatre credits include a 1997 starring role in the Pulitzer Prize winning "How I Learned to Drive, and a turn as "Sally Bowles" in the Broadway production of Cabaret; the Tony-nominated Broadway production ofEnchanted April; and the London production of When Harry Met Sally. Molly also danced her way through a national tour of Sweet Charity.

Roslyn Kind is a dynamic, multi-talented entertainer who has forged a successful career in all facets of entertainment from critically acclaimed recordings to sold-out performances on Broadway and in top concert venues and nightclubs the world over. On Friday, Oct. 4 at 8 PM, she is set to sizzle the historic Arcada Theatre in St. Charles. Tickets are only $25.

Ron Onesti, the Arcada Theatre's owner, said he is honored to welcome the accomplished star. "A vibrant musical artist, the kid sister of Barbra Streisand brings national and international audiences to their feet, with her headlining appearances at Lincoln Center, The Greek Theater and London's Cafi Royal...and now, our place in downtown St. Charles!"

Kind also earned rave reviews at her Carnegie Hall debut with her frequent musical collaborator and friend, Michael Feinstein.

She began her performing career while still in her teens with the release of her first album, "Give Me You." A whirlwind of performing activity followed, including engagements at the nation's top nightclubs, acclaim from Time Magazine and three appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show leading up to her show-stopping New York debut at the Plaza Hotel's legendary Persian Room.

Her follow up singles and a second album, "This is Roslyn Kind," showcased her growth as a recording artist comfortable in a wide range of musical genres. Ms. Kind's latest CD release, "Come What May," establishes her reputation as a virtuoso vocalist with impeccable phrasing, a richness and clarity of tone and an undeniable emotional connection to her always first-rate material.

Concurrent with her recording career, Ms. Kind is an accomplished theatrical performer. On Broadway, she starred in the crowd-pleasing musical revue "3 from Brooklyn." Additional theatrical credits include the Off-Broadway production of "Show Me Where the Good Times Are," "Leader of the Pack" and "Ferguson the Tailor."

Ms. Kind's extensive list of television credits include the film "Switched at Birth," multiple episodes of NBC's "Gimme a Break," "Throb" starring Jane Leeves, and a humorously memorable turn as herself on CBS's "The Nanny." This appearance also showcased her talent as a songwriter in a performance of her composition, "Light of Love". Kind has appeared on virtually every major talk/variety show including the "Tonight Show," "Saturday Night Live," "Entertainment Tonight," "Access Hollywood" and "Good Morning America."

Kind also takes pride in her work for various animal welfare, Alzheimers and AIDS related charitable organizations including HSUS, APLA and Broadway Cares Equity Fights AIDS for which she contributed a song selection to Cabaret Noel, a recent volume in their annual series of holiday CD releases.

Onesti described kind as an elegant, beautiful, petite, dynamo who owns the stage with a royal command that demands adoration from every seat in the house Kind is a native of Brooklyn, New York and currently resides in Los Angeles.

The Arcada Theatre is a 900-seat concert venue owned and operated by Onesti Entertainment Corporation at 105 E. Main Street in St. Charles. Recent performers have included Pat Benatar, Martin Short, Don Rickles, Mickey Rooney, Belinda Carlisle & The GoGos, and SHOWTIME's Joan Rivers and Andrew Dice Clay's television specials were shot at the venue. In addition, FOREIGNER, and Richard Marx, also shot their PBS specials at the Arcada.
