Annual 92Y Street Fest to be Held This Weekend

92nd Street Y brings its famous programs out on to Lexington Avenue for New Yorkers of all ages to enjoy at the Annual 92Y Street Fest. The FREE outdoor event takes place Sunday, September 20, from 12-5 pm on Lexington Avenue between 79th and 95th Streets.

The official radio station of this year's 92Y Street Fest is 1010 WINS, now celebrating its 50th anniversary. JDate joins as a partner, and returning sponsors include Mount Sinai and American Girl:

  • The Mount Sinai Health System presents Wellness Way, a block featuring Mount Sinai medical experts on hand to offer free screenings, tips and answers to health questions;
  • Sonia Rincon of 1010 WINS serves as Co-Master of Ceremonies at the Festival's Main Stage, while a roving reporter from 1010 WINS talks to people on the street. Or you can visit 1010 WINS' interactive booth, which features a bean bag toss and a chance to win prizes by spinning the 1010 WINS wheel;
  • JDate hosts a booth with giveaways that include discounted memberships for Jdate.com and discounted tickets to various events.
  • American Girl offers activities for kids and brings its Girl of the Year, Truly Me and BeForever doll collections, including the new doll, Maryellen.

92Y's Street Fest also features music and dance performances at the Main Stage, including performances by the casts of Chicago, A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder and Something Rotten!; activities for kids and children's performances at the KidCentral Stage; fitness demonstrations and gymnastics. 92Y offers special discounts on annual fitness-center memberships, and a 10% discount on most 92Y events and classes.

On Lexington between and 90th and 91st Streets is International Way, a world tour of booths representing China, Germany, Korea, Japan, Trinidad and Tobago, Thailand, Spain, Poland, Mexico and Israel). Festival-goers can sample delicacies and discover handicrafts from across the globe.

FOR ADULTS

Entertainment on the Main Stage (highlights): Performances by the casts of Chicago, Fiddler on the Roof (including "Matchmaker Matchmaker"), A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder and Something Rotten!; dance performances including David Parker and The Bang Group (performing new material inspired by The Wiz), Tina Croll + Dancers, performing works choreographed and inspired by pioneer Isadora Duncan and Caribbean Fusezion Riddimology; and musical and presentations from around the world, including New York Blues Hall of Fame inductee (and 92Y Music teacher) Chris Bergson and award-winning Jazz musician (and 92Y music teacher) Brian Landrus.

Wellness Way: A city block offering community health services from Mount Sinai Medical experts; FREE health screenings and answers to your health questions from Mount Sinai medical professionals; and Technogym wellness and fitness equipment demos. You can also meet 92Y's trainers and get free body composition screenings.

Tours of 92nd Street Y May Center for Health, Fitness & Sport: Visit the cardio and weight training rooms, basketball courts, track, pool, and facilities.

FUN FOR KIDS

Kids can choose from a host of FREE activities throughout the day:

Performances on the KidCentral Stage: the Shababa Mamas singing group; a host of Broadway kids from Cabaret for a Cause; children's songs by songwriter/composer (and 92Y teacher) Paul Williams; and a performance by 92Y's Junior Performance Team (ballet, tap, jazz and musical theater).

Activities for Kids of All Ages: Arts and crafts for all ages, including drop-in-drawing. Watch demos by the 92Y Gymstars Gymnastics Team; and take a turn in the Tiny Tumblers Toddler Obstacle Course.

A Special Area for Kids Five and Under: Fun, age-appropriate activities from 92Y Wonderplay Early Childhood Learning.
