Ann Hampton Callaway to Host CANY Gala, 5/19; Bobby Steggert, Cady Huffman & More to Appear
Tony Award winners Kathleen Marshall and Dick Latessa bring together Broadway stars to help raise funds for Creative Alternatives of New York (CANY), which uses drama therapy to empower children and adults who have endured trauma to rebuild their lives.
This year's 2014 Annual "Theater & Therapy Gala will be held on Monday, May 19, 2014 at the Edison Hotel Ballroom (240 West 47th Street). The 2014 Honoree is CANY's Executive Director Jonathan Hilton, who is retiring after an illustrious career of thirty years in drama therapy and nonprofit management.
Festivities begin at 6:00 p.m. with cocktails, appetizers and silent auction. Dinner, show and live auction start at 7:15 p.m. and will include performances by Bobby Steggert (Mothers and Sons; Big Fish) and other Broadway guests, a video presentation by Tony Award winner, Katie Finneran, with special guest auctioneer, Tony Award winner, Cady Huffman.
For over thirty years, Creative Alternatives of New York (CANY) has been offering drama therapy programs to traumatized children and adults in the New York Metropolitan area, helping them to build new life skills and realize their potential through the art of drama. Working in partnership with 20 leading social service agencies and health care institutions, CANY serves almost 1,500 children and adults annually in residential centers for children and youth, special schools, veterans mental health centers, and domestic violence safe shelters.
