The Hollywood Reporter writes that actor Andy Serkis (Rise of the Planet of the Apes, King Kong, Lord of the Rings) and The Imaginarium have inked a one-year first look deal with 20th Century Fox. The first project he will produce, alongside Chernin Entertainment, is THE BONE SEASON, adapted from Samantha Shannon's bestselling novel.

Author Shannon currently has a three-book deal with Bloomsbury with plans to create a seven-volume series. The first book, set in the year 2059 in London, follows Paige Mahoney, a 19-year-old psychic kidnapped by a strange race of people who want her to join their army of clairvoyants.

Serkis' upcoming film projects as an actor include Freezing Time (which he is also producing), The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and The Adventures of Tintin: Prisoners of the Sun.

He recently appeared on the big screen in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, Arthur Christmas, The Adventures of Tintin, Wild Bill, Death of a Superhero, Rise of the Planet of the Apes and more.
