Andrew Lloyd Webber Predicts London Theatre 'Bloodbath' During Summer Olympics

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, there is currently a lot of discussion going on about the possibility of closing West End productions for the 2012 Summer Olypics in London. Now Andrew Lloyd Webber, whose Really Useful Group owns seven West End theatres, is commenting on the situation.

Lloyd Webber told the BBC, 'Nobody's going to go to the theatre at all,' and that 2012 will be a 'bloodbath of a summer.' He also added that he thinks 'most of the theatres in London will shut.'

He also cryptically added that three big musicals will definitely not remain open through the Olympics.

The 2012 Summer Olympic Games, officially known as the Games of the xx Olympiad, are scheduled to take place in London, England, United Kingdom, from 27 July to 12 August 2012. London will become the first city to officially host the modern Olympic Games three times, having previously done so in 1908 and in 1948.
