As a part of July's Thespis Theater Festival in NYC, veteran playwright Andrea J. Fulton's play UGLY IS A HARD PILL will get three performances tonight, July 16, 18 and 19 at the Hudson Guild Theatre (441 West 26th Street).

Featuring direction and dramaturgy from award-winner Passion (member of Lincoln Center Theater Director's Lab, the Workshop Theater, and the Women's Project Director's Forum), this dark comedy featuring music and movement is set against the backdrop of heterosexual, bisexual and homosexual relationships in modern urban culture.

In UGLY IS A HARD PILL, Keef AND Lena are "on the down low" and their love lives are scandalous! However, what happens in the bedroom proves to be the least of their concerns in this audacious comedy. Timely messages pack powerful punches and inspire conversations on current and critical topics including sexuality, food choices, gay marriage, karma, respect and responsibility. This production features strong language and adult content.

The cast will feature, in alphabetical order, Gabrielle C. Archer, Zeshan Bhatti, Kymbali Craig, Illona S. Dixon, Allen Craig Harris, Carleton King, Erik Rieloff, Ben Rowe, Dee Spencer and Julian Tai.

The creative team includes associate producer Denise Fair-Grant, lighting design by Ulric O'Flaherty, sound design by Phil R. Veira, costume consultation by Damien DJ Shaw, stage manager Melissa Diaz and assistant stage manager Daisylee Sprauve.

UGLY IS A HARD PILL will have three performances on July 16 at 9pm, July 18 at 1pm and July 19 at 6pm at the Hudson Guild Theatre (441 West 26th Street). Tickets are $20 at the door or online at www.ThespisNYTheaterFestival.com.
