According to the Mirror, actress Amanda Holden is set to host 'Superstar,' the new reality show in which Andrew Lloyd Webber will search for the character of Jesus in the JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR tour. 'Superstar' is set to begin filming this summer and will air on ITV1.

Holden is no stranger to working on a competition television show. She is also a judge on 'Britain’s Got Talent,' which returns to television this week.

She will balance being a mother of two and working on both the television shows.

An ITV source told the Mirror, “Amanda is the perfect lady for the Jesus Christ Superstar role as she has first-hand experience of what it is like to be on the West End stage from Shrek and Thoroughly Modern Millie. She has taken the job in principle and now contracts need to be worked out.”

As previously announced, Mel C and Jason Donovan assisted with the callbacks portion of the competition. There is also word that Nicole Scherzinger has been approached to play Mary Magdalene.

'Superstar' has been described as "a brand new show that will give the British public the chance to choose the country’s next major rock star."

The winner of the show will be given the lead role in the JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR tour, opening at London's O2 Arena.
