The Winter Season, a series of 7pm Monday night concerts at BIRDLAND featuring top Broadway and cabaret performers, continues with composer/lyricists Amanda Green & Tom Kitt, who will be performing their original songs January 24th and 31st at 7pm. The duo will be joined by special guest stars Brooks Ashmanskas, Mario Cantone, Jenn Colella, Gavin Creel, Jerry Dixon, Matt McGrath, Julia Murney, Greg Naughton, Alice Ripley, Amy Spanger and the Tom Kitt Band. The writing team is currently adapting the popular book and film High Fidelity for the Broadway stage as a musical, and will premiere several songs from the musical during the concert.

Amanda Green co-starred in and wrote the lyrics for For The Love Of Tiffany: A Wifetime Original Musical, co-starring Tony Nominee Nancy Opel and Jonathan Dokuchitz. It enjoyed a sold-out run at The Wings Theater as part of The New York Fringe Festival. She is also working with legendary playwright Arthur Laurents, writing additional lyrics for a revival of Hallelujah Baby slated for The George Street Playhouse in October 2004. As a theatrical lyricist, she received an L.A. Drama Critics Circle Award Nomination (Best Score), a Garland Award (Best Score) and "Critics Pick" in The Los Angeles Times, for her lyrics for the musical comedy Up The Week Without A Paddle. She has received 5 Nominations and won two MAC Awards and has received Backstage Magazine's Bistro Award (Outstanding Comedy Song) and The Abe Olman Award (Excellence In Songwriting) from The Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Her original revue, Put A Little Love In Your Mouth sold-out and won rave reviews at Off Broadway's Second Stage Theater, and at Joe's Pub at The Public Theater. A live CD of the show has garnered rave reviews. The Second Stage Theatre produced another sold-out evening of her work, Green Piece, The Tongue-In-Cheek Songs of Amanda Green, co-starring an All-Star cast of Broadway performers, including Tony-winner Karen Ziemba, Norbert Leo Butz, Julia Murney and Amanda's mother Phyllis Newman. Amanda and others have performed her songs in concerts at Carnegie Hall, Carnegie Recital Hall with Michael Feinstein, Rainbow & Stars, Town Hall, on Broadway in Nothing Like A Dame, The Manhattan Theater Club, The York Theater, The Wilma Theater in Philadelphia, Tavern On The Green, Caroline's, etc. She is also a contributing writer to Playboy Magazine.

Tom Kitt was the Musical Director, Arranger, Conductor/Pianist for Mario Cantone's Broadway show, Laugh Whore. He has also worked with the Broadway companies of Urban Cowboy, Bombay Dreams, Nothing Like a Dame, Caroline's on Broadway 20th Anniversary, and The Lincoln Center Songbook. His Off-Broadway work includes Debbie Does Dallas, Dream a Little Dream, Showstopper, For the Love of Tiffany, It's Only Life: The Songs of John Bucchino, Making Tracks, and Dog Sees God. Tom is also the leader of the Tom Kitt Band, whose debut album "Find Me" includes songs that have been featured on "Dawson's Creek" and the feature film "The Two Ninas." In 2004, Tom received a grant from the Jonathan Larson Foundation for his original musical, Feeling Electric.

The Winter Season at Birdland is presented by Jim Caruso, in association with TheaterMania.com, and will also include Julia Murney (February 7), Stephanie J. Block (February 14 @7pm), Christine Ebersole (February 14 @9pm), Peter Eldridge (February 21), The Marcy & Zina Show (March 7), Natalie Douglas (Marcy 21), and Max von Essen (March 28).
