When Dolly Parton, who starred in the hit movie version, 9 to 5, and Patricia Resnick premiered 9 to 5: The Musical in Los Angeles in 1980, they probably never imagined it would go on to receive the most Drama Desk® Award nominations in Broadway history as well as four Tony ® Award nominations. More so, here it is 35 years later and the show is still packing houses all over the country and still with pertinent messages. The Alhambra Theatre & Dining, the nation's longest running professional dinner theater, will run 9 to 5: The Musical presented by Brumo's Automotive from September 16, 2015 through October 18, 2015.

In addition, because the timing of 9 to 5: The Musical coincides with October's Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Alhambra will be working closely with The Donna Foundation, a local charity that raises money to bring awareness to and fight breast cancer. On Thursday evening, September 17, during what is typically a "preview night" performance (what the audience realizes is a show that still might be a little rough around the edges before its grand opening gala on the following Friday), the Alhambra will host The Donna Foundation as it unveils its 2016 Brushed Bold calendar with a fundraiser reception. The reception will feature a cocktail hour introducing the models, all breast cancer survivors, used as "live canvasses" in the photography for the calendar as well as a gallery-style first-look at the photographs. The signed original 20" x 24" photographs will then remain on display and for sale at the Alhambra through the run of 9 to 5: The Musical with all money raised going directly to The Donna Foundation. Tickets are $100 for this particular event and are limited to the first 150 sold. They can be purchased through The Donna Foundation by calling 904.355.PINK. Regular preview night tickets will also be on sale and are $38 and can be bought through the Alhambra box office, but do not include the pre-show reception or a donation to The Donna Foundation.

About the Show

9 To 5 The Musical, with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton and book by Patricia Resnick, is based on the seminal 1980 hit movie. 9-5. Set in the late 1970s this hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era is outrageous, thought provoking, and even a little romantic.

Pushed to the boiling point, three female co-workers concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss. In a hilarious turn of events, Violet, Judy and Doralee live out their wildest fantasy - giving their boss the boot! While Hart remains "otherwise engaged," the women give their workplace a dream makeover, taking control of the company that had always kept them down.
