The York Theatre Company launches its 2013-14 season with a special concert presentation of the musical Six Wives, with Book and Lyrics by Joe Masteroff and Music by Edward Thomas tonight. Directed by David Green, and with Music Direction by Dennis Buck, the five member cast features Nick Wyman and Claybourne Elder, with Judy Kaye and Alexander Silber as the six wives, and Alexander Gemignani playing Henry VIII.

The one-night only concert event is set for tonight, October 28, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. at The York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's (Citicorp Building, entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue).

Six Wives tells the story of Henry VIII, the larger-than-life English monarch, and the six extraordinary women he married: Anne Boleyn, Anne of Cleves, Katherine Howard, Katherine of Aragon, Jane Seymour, and Katherine Parr. This five-person musical reexamines Henry VIII's historical image from a modern day perspective-with two women playing all six wives. York produced the world premiere in 1992, and now this chamber musical returns for a one-night only concert.

This production will also be recorded for release on the JAY Records Label. The cast will head into the recording studio immediately after the concert at York.

"Janet Hayes Walker produced the premiere production of this show in 1992 and we were very proud of it," said Jim Morgan, Producing Artistic Director. "It has had too few productions over the years because not enough people know of it; with any degree of luck this concert evening and subsequent recording will change all that. Nothing would make us happier."

The original York cast featured Tovah Feldshuh and Kim Crosby as the six wives with Buddy Crutchfield and the late Rex Hays as the messenger and minister, respectively. King Henry was played by Steve Barton who passed away in 2001. This concert and recording are produced in his memory and supported by Maria Candil.

Tickets are priced at $50 and are available by calling (212) 935-5820, or in person at the box office at the York Theatre at Saint Peter's (Citicorp Building, entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue), Monday through Friday (12:00 -6:00 p.m.).
