Richard A. Valicek's formerly titled Alamptria: Red Moon Rising, initially released in 2011, has since been revamped and expanded. Published in the spring of 2013 by Double Dragon Publishing, the newly titled Alamptria 1: Bloodstone Crypt is now available to excite, delight, and thrill readers of fantasy/vampire fiction. The book careens through fast-paced action and blood-sucking horror in a mythical land where dark magic exists alongside fantastical creatures possessing extraordinary powers.

When the undead make their stealthy way down from Mount Drone to infiltrate the harmonious existence of the kingdom of Elysium, the royal brothers launch into battle against the creatures of the underworld. When the youngest brother's beloved Melina is abducted by the head of the vampire cult and prepared for transformation to the undead, it becomes a race of good against evil to win her back and save the human race from extinction. The ultimate test of loyalty is put forth to the youngest Seaton brother, Dragus, when he is bitten and begins his transformation to the undead. Dragus must choose between remaining loyal to the wizard of Petoshine and fulfilling the quest set out before him, or facing his destruction by the knight masters and their claymores of power. It is a terrible burden as the vampire forces in his blood begin to overtake his mind and body, yet Dragus struggles to hold on to his humanity in order to maintain his worth as a knight of Petoshine.

In this Fantasy/Horror epic of Alamptria 1: Bloodstone Crypt, heroes are seen in all walks of life: from the small and meek, to the daring who seek to hunt down the most villainous henchmen trying to annihilate the cities of Elysium and Koriston. The quietly elegant Felicia: The Golden Fleece, overseer of wisdom with the power to spread goodness over the land of Alamptria. Some, like the great elf wizard Grongone, foresee all the encroaching evil determined to overshadow the lands in darkness, and some, such as the dark lord Makoor and his advocate Tyrus Clore seek immortality and domination of all humankind at any cost. The minions of undead give their souls to Makoor and Clore, the Prince of Darkness, and live out their days in a world of sin.

Though the Buzillions Reviewers' Choice Award-winning novel pays distinct homage to Bram Stoker's Dracula, it equally has strains of the modern fantasy fiction masters J.K. Rowling and J.R.R. Tolkien. Yet, it has been hailed by readers as innovative and unique in storyline, character, and setting of this fantasy/horror epic. "I went back to the original tale and built on its complexity and history to give readers something that's entirely new," says Valicek.

Richard A. Valicek lives in Canada.
