Join African Burial Ground National Monument on Founder's Day, Thursday, February 27, 2014 for "The Flight," a performance starring Collective Colour.

"The Flight" is an inventive piece of theater that satirically tackles issues of racism, identity, and the manipulation of black American history through the transformative power of personal narrative.

Through a series of vignettes, "The Flight" weaves a quilt of memories that proves to be a powerful journey. Join three misguided Black Airlines flight attendants as they take you on an intimate journey into what it is to be black.
The performance will be held in the lobby of the Ted Weiss Federal Building at 290 Broadway.

The performance is free and open to the public, but reservations are required. To RSVP, please call (212) 637-2019.

The Black History Month celebration will take place at the African Burial Ground National Monument, located on the first floor of the Ted Weiss Federal Building at 290 Broadway in Lower Manhattan, close to Foley Square and just north of City Hall. Upon entering the building, members of the public will have to go through security screening.

African Burial Ground National Monument Visitor Center is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am to 4 pm. The memorial is closed for the winter. The visitor center and memorial are closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.
