Adventure Stage Chicago's Trailblazers, a youth mentoring program for ages 11-15, is proud to present and perform a new devised work entitled Push Play. Through a collection of scenes and stories, the Trailblazers explore their relationship to violence in media and, ultimately, how they are each affected by it.

Since Fall 2013, the Trailblazers have been exploring questions about how violence begins and ends. Mentors and mentees began sharing and gathering stories that related to those questions while also exploring different styles of theatre and presentation. Towards the end of the fall session, certain stories emerged that the group wanted to develop further.

Director Matthew Scott and the mentors constructed an outline based on the suggestions provided by our mentees. From this outline, the group created a working script. The end product is Push Play, a piece completely written and devised by the ensemble of mentors and mentees.Push Play will be performed Mon., Feb. 24 and Tues., Feb. 25 at 7:00pm at Adventure Stage Chicago's Vittum Theater, 1012 N. Noble St., Chicago. Admission is a $10.00 suggested donation. To reserve seats, please call 773-342-4141 or visit www.adventurestage.org.

In addition to the two above performances, the Trailblazers will also perform Push Play as part of the Illinois Regional Theatre in our Schools Conference at Vittum Theater on March 8, 2014.
