Actors' Theatre's THE BEAUX STRATEGEM Continues Through 9/1 at Schiller Park

Don't miss your chance to see The Beaux' Stratagem, the last play of Actors' Theatre's Schiller Park season. It is being performed, starting at 8:00 p.m., every Thursday through Sunday night through September 1. That means you have only three short weekends to get to the park and see this well-received comedy.

The play itself is be set in the early 18th century, but the plot could have been ripped from today's headlines (OK, celebrity tabloids) - two young bachelors squander their families' fortunes and set their sights on finding rich wives, by hook or by crook - and the sooner, the better. The play is directed by Adam Simon.

John S. Kuhn, who serves as Artistic Director of Actors' Theatre says, "It is a fun play. Ludwig is the playwright for some of our most popular plays, including The Three Musketeers and Treasure Island. Our audience will love The Beaux' Stratagem." The play, which was written by George Farquhar, adapted by Thornton Wilder, and adapted again by Ken Ludwig, was first performed in 1707.

Following The Beaux' Stratagem, Actors' will be offering the always-popular Romeo and Juliet, at the Columbus Commons at 7:30 p.m. every Friday through Sunday night September 13 through the 22.

Kuhn points out that, as always, there is no charge for tickets to the productions. "We are pleased that we are able to continue to offer our summer productions at no charge. However, we strongly encourage attendees to make donations to support our efforts. Donations remain an important income source for our continuing sustainability."

So pack a picnic (or stop first at one of German Village's popular restaurants), stick a lawn chair or blanket under your arm, and come on down to the park. Kuhn says, "We promise you a good time."
