Sometimes it only takes one person to make things come alive. Ladies and gentlemen, meet Harry Kopelman...

The story of Harry Kopelman and friends comes to the West End Studio Theatre in Portsmouth this June 26-28 when ACT ONE presents a staged reading of Look...There's A Boat, a new play by writer Lester Dubow.

But this isn't just any staged reading - it will be the very first for this script. The play has gone through rewrites and received critical feedback from early readers that led to more revisions. Now it is ready for an audience. As ACT ONE's Executive Director Stephanie Voss Nugent explains, "Les will get to hear his story read aloud for the first time, and we get to invite folks to be part of the creative process that moves a script from the page to the stage."

Look...There's A Boat introduces us to eleven very colorful characters who become "family" by sharing their stories and the wisdom gained from their life experiences. Playwright Les Dubow has drawn from real-life people and events to create a story that is not only hilarious and heartwarming, but rich in detail and emotional depth.

"I had the outline for the play some twenty-five years ago," says Dubow. "At that time I was much younger than the central character, Harry Kopelman. When I started to work on the script last year, I was fascinated to see how my perspective had changed, now that I was actually older than Kopelman."

The reading of Look...There's A Boat will be performed tonight, June 26 at 8pm; Sat, June 27 at 2pm & 8Pm; Sun, June 28 at 2pm at WEST, 959 Islington St., Portsmouth, NH. Tickets are $15 and $12 for seniors & students ($1 processing fee for credit cards). You can purchase online at www.actonenh.org or reserve your seats by calling 603.300.2986 and pay at the door.
