Act II Playhouse in Ambler presents the exciting crime drama, Mauritius by Theresa Rebeck, on stage for four weeks only, Oct. 25-Nov. 20.

This contemporary thriller centers on two half-sisters sparring over rare stamps from the island of Mauritius. After their mother's death, one sister attempts to sell the stamps for a fortune, and unwittingly steps into the dangerous black market of stamp collecting. Loyalties are tested, allegiances are formed, and every plot twist will leave the audience guessing.

Mauritius is directed by David Bradley, who also helmed the recent Act II hits, According to Goldman and Unnecessary Farce.

"There's mystery to this play," Bradley said. "We see these flawed, passionate people banging against each other. They want more, they want better. "They're willing to dance on the edge of danger to get it."

Mauritius stars five of Philadelphia's most acclaimed actors: Jake Blouch, Brian McCann, Stephen Novelli, Campbell O'Hare, and Julianna Zinkel.

Rebeck was a writer of Law and Order: Criminal Intent and NYPD Blue, among many other film and TV credits. "When I first picked up Mauritius, I couldn't put it down," Act II Playhouse Artistic Director Tony Braithwaite said. "Lovers of Law and Order - and we have many of them in our audience - will really be engrossed with Mauritius."

Tickets for Mauritius at Act II Playhouse are $27-$38. Discounts are available for subscribers, students, group of 10 or more, and seniors (65+). Tickets are available online at www.act2.org, by calling the Act II box office at (215) 654-0200, or in person at 56 E. Butler Ave. in Ambler.

The design team for Mauritius includes Colin McIlvaine (Set Design), Katherine Fritz (Costume Design), Christopher Colucci (Original Music and Sound Design), Lily Fossner (Lighting Design), Lauren Davenport (Properties), and Samantha Reading (Fight Choreography).

"What's great about doing a play like this at Act II is that the audiences are so close-up to what's happening," Bradley said. "The action of the play drives ahead and we want to know what's going to happen next. And at Act II all that's right there, right in front of us."
