On June 28, The Sherman Playhouse will debut Lucille Maude Montgomery's timeless classic, ANNE OF GREEN GABLES, adapted for the stage by Joseph Robinette. The curtain goes up at 8:00 p.m. for a five-week run.

ANNE OF GREEN GABLES is an enduring tale about an orphan girl, Anne Shirley (Emma Nissenbaum, New Milford), set in Prince Edward Island, Canada. From Anne's first encounter with her austere guardian to her thrilling graduation from Queen's Academy, the play faithfully recreates the memorable events and characters from the brilliant novel. Whether theatergoers are familiar with the character of Anne or meeting her for the first time, this play will solidify a lasting friendship between the audience and one of literature's most unforgettable characters.

"As soon as I walked into this theater, I knew that I had to do 'Anne of Green Gables' here," said producer and director Robin Frome of New Milford. "The early 20th century era of the play fits perfectly with the era in which this playhouse was built...We have some new actors in this play as well as some highly experienced actors. It's such a sweet story that everyone wanted to get involved in. Moreover, the themes are so universal and the moments are so touching, without being maudlin, that people of all ages will adore its warmth."

Besides Ms. Nissenbaum, the production features many fine actors: Ron Sullivan, Jeff Rossman, Stacy-Lee Frome, Pamela Martin, Michael Wright, Lucy Shea, Phair Haldin, Alyssa Svinte, Madeline De La Porta, Cassidy Ranno, Erin Shaughnessy, Sam Everett, Jerusha Wright, Lynn Nissenbaum, Kate Morris, Spencer Hauspurg, Anne E. Soltes, Olivia Minor, Shea Foscato, Garrett Foscato, Jordan McCartney, and Judy Sullivan.

In addition to Mr. Frome, the show's crew includes assistant director Kate Morris, set designer and builder Josh Siegel, costumer Terry Hawley, sound designer David White, and lighting designer Peter Petrino.
