The 53rd Annual GRAMMY Awards will take place live from STAPLES Center in Los Angeles tonight, Feb. 13, 2011 and broadcast on CBS at 8 p.m. ET/PT. The award for Best Musical Show album has been revealed during the pre-ceremony live stream here and the winner is...the AMERICAN IDIOT Original Cast Recording!

The AMERICAN IDIOT Original Cast album (featuring Green Day) is produced by Billie Joe Armstrong. The cast album is composed by Green Day, and features lyrics by Billie Joe Armstrong and the original Broadway Cast including John Gallagher, Jr., Michael Esper, Rebecca Naomi Jones, Mary Faber, Stark Sands & others. [Reprise]

Best Musical Show Album is the Grammy Award to the Album Producer(s), and to the Lyricist(s) & Composer(s) of 51% or more of a new score.

The cast albums for A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, FELA!, PROMISES, PROMISES, and SONDHEIM ON SONDHEIM were also nominees.
