All My Children's Alfredo Diaz will join the cast of The Sunday Series at Abingdon's presentation of 3 From The Neighborhood. It is a one night only workshop performance on March 22nd of three new one act plays by New York-based playwright Charles Messina. Diaz played the unscrupulous villan Vlad Koslov on the daytime soap.

The evening will include three plays making their New York Premiere. Each one is centered on people living in Greenwich Village, the place where author Messina was born and raised.

In THE NEIGHBORHOOD, Messina tells the true story of the events behind the Washington Square Park Riot of 1976.

DEWEY, PHUKUM & HOWE tells the tale of three workers stuck in a dead end, debt collecting job and their wanderlust for another life.

THE WRECK is the story of a neurotic man trying to cope with his hypochondria and the recent break up with his girlfriend.

The stellar cast for the three one-acts also includes talent from television, film, stage and radio, such as Craig Rivela, Ernest Mingione, Anthony DeSando, Lynne Koplitz, Mary Dimino, Rosie DeSanctis, Nick Fondulis, Johnny Tammaro, Khalid Goncalves, Michael Townsend Wright, Kyle C. Mumford, Michael Barbieri, and Jonathan Smith.

Charles Messina has become a strong voice on the NY theatre scene. His plays present a world that is wholly and uniquely New York City. In addition to directing the long-running show The Accidental Pervert, starring Andrew Goffman, Messina's autobiographical comedy A Room of My Own, starring Mario Cantone and Ralph Macchio, is being developed for Broadway. Messina's Mercury: The Afterlife and Times of a Rock God about the life of Queen frontman Freddie Mercury received across-the-board critical acclaim.

Since 1993, the Abingdon Theatre Company has developed and produced new plays by American Playwrights exclusively. Under the artistic direction of Jan Buttram, the company provides a safe home in which playwrights collaborate with other theatre artists and receive audience feedback through the utilization of our four-step development process: First Readings, Staged Readings, and Workout Labs, which culminate in Studio Productions and Mainstage Productions. ATC is now celebrating its 21st season. Find more information at www.abingdontheatre.org.
