Artistic New Directions will present AFTER Anne Frank, written and performed by Carol Lempert, directed by Janice L. Goldberg as part of the 2nd annual United Solo Festival.

Voted BEST OF FRINGENYC 2011! Selected for the Fringenyc Encore Series. Backstage cited AFTER Anne Frank as a Critic's pick.

Carol played to sold-out crowds in 2008 with her first award winning one-woman show,
THAT Dorothy Parker. She now brings us AFTER Anne Frank - a touching and very funny personal memoir about life, identity, theatre, family, forgiveness and the wisdom of Star Trek.

Over the course of Carol's career she's performed in all 3 versions of The Diary of Anne Frank. During college she played Anne - in the 1955 Goodrich and Hackett version. In her 20s she played Anne's sister - in the "forbidden" 1952 Meyer Levin version. And years later she played Anne's mother - in the 1997 Wendy Kesselman adaptation of the play.

AFTER Anne Frank interweaves these theatre stories with the oral history of Carol's Uncle - a Holocaust survivor. Carol plays 20 different characters in the piece and begins a conversation about the ‘Commercialization of the Holocaust'. Jews are commanded to tell their stories, but what happens when telling meets commerce?
